Cat distemper is fatal, with a fatality rate of 90%, and young cats have the highest infection rate. Feline distemper can be transmitted through feces and oral routes. The incubation period of feline distemper is 2 to 9 days. In acute attacks, people may even die without clinical symptoms, which is often mistaken for poisoning. In the early stages of feline distemper infection, cats will have symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. The vomit is yellow-green, diarrhea, and sometimes there is blood in the feces. The owner is unable to do any basic diagnosis and treatment at home. It is recommended that the cat be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately if the initial symptoms appear.

Precautions for cat plague:

1. Cat plague must be hospitalized for treatment. If the owner has time, it is best to accompany him throughout the process.

2. If there are many cats at home. Immediately isolate and test other cats for infection, and then immediately disinfect the entire room. Feline distemper virus can be inactivated by formalin, sodium hypochlorite (household disinfectant) or dialdehyde. The first thing to do is to buy the dialdehyde disinfectant with animal approval. If not, use the 84 disinfectant in the supermarket. Please note that other disinfectants have no effect. Secondly, all items to be changed should be soaked in disinfectant after changing. If it is inconvenient to change, spray and disinfect at least twice a day. Throw away all cat toys that can be thrown away, soak and disinfect water basins, food basins, and cat litter boxes.

3. The incubation period of feline plague is nine days, and vaccination can only be given after more than 20 days of observation. The cat distemper vaccine is not an inactivated vaccine. During the invisible infection period, the cat will become ill immediately after the vaccine. You must ensure that healthy cats are not infected and are in good health before being vaccinated.
