Chihuahuas are very small and have short hair, so parents’ daily grooming work is relatively simple and easy to operate. Chihuahua beautification is very common, and many friends and parents want to help Chihuahua beautify it. However, how to beautify Chihuahuas? To keep Chihuahuas healthy and clean, parents should clean and beautify them every day or regularly. Of course, before doing this, parents need to be familiar with the methods of grooming Chihuahuas.

How to groom your Chihuahua?

1. The side of the abdomen is trimmed into a cylindrical shape

Use a grooming comb to comb the Chihuahua's coat and hair on the sides of its abdomen, and trim it to the same length according to personal preference. After pruning, the back will be flat and the limbs will be cylindrical.

2. Trim excess hair on head and cheeks

Comb up the hair on the Chihuahua's head and cheeks and carefully trim the excess long hair. Don't trim too much to prevent the face from becoming narrow.

3. Trim chest hair

Comb up the hair on the Chihuahua's chest, and use scissors to trim it from the chin to the chest until it feels round and raised.

4. Comb the tail hair to both sides

Cover the Chihuahua's tail hair on its back, take the tail root as the center, comb it to both sides according to the middle line, and then trim it in a natural shape.

5. Eye cleaning

Proper grooming also includes the Chihuahua’s eyes. To keep the eyes clean, you should regularly drop some eyewash solution into the Chihuahua's eyes and then wipe them gently with cotton. Because Chihuahuas’ eyes protrude, the secretions from their eyes can easily form tear stains, which is very obvious in light-colored Chihuahuas. Eye drops can reduce or remove tear stains in your Chihuahua. This work should be done once or twice a week.

6. Hair should be cleaned in time

Long-haired Chihuahuas require more frequent grooming than short-haired Chihuahuas, and the feathers on their chests are easily stained and tangled. The hair on the buttocks, especially around the anus, should be cleaned in time. In order to reduce the adhesion of excrement and dirt, it is best to cut the hair near the anus short. Or bathe them frequently. No matter what type of coat your Chihuahua has, regular brushing will keep your Chihuahua's coat tidy.

7. Clean the ear canal

Use ear cleaning solution to clean the ear canal. Chihuahua’s ears need to be kept clean at all times. However, the structure of Chihuahua’s ear canal is different from that of humans, so owners should pay special attention when cleaning. First, use a cotton swab to dig out the shallower earwax for the Chihuahua before taking a bath. As for the deeper earwax, ear cleaning water or ear cleaning powder can be used as a helper.

8. Trim toes

Trim the miscellaneous hair on the toes. Don’t think that the Chihuahua’s feet will never see the light of day.Don't worry about it. If your Chihuahua's toenails and toe hair are too long, it will not only affect the appearance, but also be dangerous when walking. Because the toe hair is too long, it will be unsteady and prone to slipping. 9. Cut the white edges of toenails

Cut the toenails with white edges. If the nails are cut too close to the flesh, they will bleed. The same is true for Chihuahuas, because their toenails have blood vessels and nerves hidden near the flesh. Therefore, when the owner cuts the toenails of the Chihuahua, he can only cut the white part. If he accidentally cuts the pink part and causes bleeding, he must use styptic powder to stop the bleeding of the Chihuahua. In addition, after cutting the Chihuahua's toenails, it is best to file the Chihuahua's toenails, so that the Chihuahua will not accidentally scratch itself and its owner.
