Methods to judge cat trichiasis:

1. It can be judged by the growth of cat’s eyelashes. Under normal circumstances, cat’s eyelashes grow outward. Cats with trichiasis have a tendency for their eyelashes to grow inward.

2. Cats suffering from trichiasis will blink constantly and shed tears, and may even experience symptoms such as swelling and inflammation of the eyes and decreased vision.

3. Cats habitually scratch their eyes with their claws.

4. The cat frequently uses its paws to scrub around its eyes, resulting in redness and swelling around the eyes and increased eye secretions.

How to treat trichiasis in cats:

1. The inverted eyelashes need to be removed. If your cat’s eyelashes are mild, you can use tweezers to remove all of the cat’s eyelashes. However, if the cat is disobedient, the tweezers are likely to injure the cat's eyes, and the owner may also be scratched or bitten by the cat. Therefore, it is not recommended that the owner handle it by himself, and should go to a pet hospital for surgical treatment in time.

2. If trichiasis is caused by entropion of the eyelids, surgery is required to correct it. If your cat’s inverted eyelashes are serious, you need to take it to a pet hospital for eyelid correction surgery as soon as possible. After the operation, the cat needs to be given eye drops for a period of time to prevent inflammation of the eyeball. If the cat has corneal damage, eye drops that promote corneal repair will also need to be used.
