Male cats need to be neutered. Male cats react more strongly during estrus, usually meowing more violently, and may even go out looking for cats of the opposite sex, which increases the chance of getting lost or jumping off a building. But if your male cat is very timid, you don’t need to be neutered. It mainly depends on the owner’s choice. Another situation is that the cat's heart is not very good, in which case sterilization is not recommended.

Precautions for cat sterilization:

1. After the sterilization operation, the pet hospital will usually let the cat lie flat in a cage or mat. At this time, the cat cannot be moved. He changes his lying position, which needs to be maintained for a period of time until the cat gradually wakes up.

2. It is generally required to refrain from food and water for several hours before surgery to prevent the cat from vomiting and blocking the trachea after anesthesia.

3. It will take a while after the sterilization operation to drink water and eat. Generally, male cats are allowed to drink water and eat for about 4 hours and female cats are about 6 hours. It can be extended appropriately according to the actual situation.

4. As long as topical medicine is applied, the Elizabethan ring must be worn until the wound has healed. After neutering, both male and female cats must wear Elizabethan rings, but the length of time they wear them varies.

5. Cat sterilization surgery should be performed at least after the first vaccination, preferably two weeks after all vaccinations are completed. Making sure the immunity is fully effective before going to the hospital for surgery can effectively reduce disease infection and contagion.
