【Bath supplies】

Bathing utensils usually include a bathtub, bath towel, detergent, comb (metal, wooden or plastic ones are acceptable, but one with dense teeth and one with sparse teeth is required, and dual-purpose ones are also acceptable), brushes (bristle or nylon), Absorbent cotton swabs, tweezers, eye ointment, hair dryer, etc.

Bath liquid:

Cats that do not have fleas, lice and other parasites should not use insecticidal baths. That kind of bath liquid is toxic. Even if the cat does not show obvious symptoms of poisoning, it will still be harmful to its health. Cats with parasites must be killed with professional insecticides under the guidance of a veterinarian. It is absolutely prohibited to directly spray cats with the so-called "safe and non-toxic" insecticide sprays on the market. The safest way to get rid of pests is to catch them with your hands, especially for cats under 4 months old. Note: It is best not to use other human bath liquids, because cats will lick the bath liquid remaining on their bodies, which may cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Never use shampoo to bathe your cat! Shampoo residue can damage your cat’s stomach. It also affects its skin and hair)

Bathtub:

As long as it is a non-toxic plastic pot, it is fine. It is best to prepare a small or two large ones. Dilute the bath solution with water and put the cat in it to wash. The two large ones can be used to wash cats and put clean water in them. It is better to be slightly larger.

Cup:

A container used to scoop out water when washing cats.

Towel:

Please prepare a few towels for drying. It will be easier to blow dry if you wipe them dryer. If possible, you can use special absorbent towels for better results.

Hair dryer:

Used to dry the cat's coat. If possible, it is best to choose a silent heater, which makes very little noise and is acceptable to most cats. Just let it get used to the sound slowly.

【Prelude to bathing】

1. Long-haired cats should comb their coats through, otherwise they will be more likely to tangle when wet.

2. Cut your cat’s nails before taking a bath. Use professional nail clippers. The nails should be cut into an oval shape to avoid being scratched by cats who are sensitive to bathing.

3. If your kitten is resistant to bathing or is particularly sensitive, you can wear an Elizabethan collar on it to prevent it from biting.

4. Before taking a bath, the kitten should also be allowed to perform slight activities to make the cat eliminate feces and urine.

5. When preparing hot water, control the water temperature at about 38℃-40℃. You can wash it in a basin or rinse it with a nozzle (but the water flow should not be too strong). (Picture source: Huagai)
