Does high-priced dog food necessarily mean good dog food?

Recently, many people have been asking these questions: How to identify the quality of dog food? Is the high-priced dog food good? Today I will explain to you, what is the difference between good dog food and poor dog food?

First of all, whether dog food is good or not depends on the raw materials used. However, pet food in our country is still in a state of uncertainty, so it is difficult to judge the quality of a dog food just from the outer packaging of the product. Below I have listed the product ingredient lists of three domestic dog foods and one imported dog food. The prices are respectively 7.9 yuan/kg, 20.9/kg, 49.92 yuan/kg, and 93 yuan/kg. As can be seen from the ingredient list of the following four types of food, the top ingredients are all meat, but the price difference between the cheapest and the most expensive dog food is more than ten times. There is currently no mandatory requirement in China that the ingredient list should be arranged from most to least, so even if only a small amount of meat is added to the grain, it can still be written first.

Protein content

Generally, the quality of a food is judged by its protein content, but the first dog food that costs less than 8 yuan per kilogram has a protein content of 26%. Why is this? This is because protein is divided into animal parts. Protein and vegetable protein, beans are rich in protein, especially soybeans, which contain 36% to 40% protein and can be used as an important source of protein. However, the digestion and absorption rate and nutritional value of plant protein are not as high as animal protein. Long-term consumption is not beneficial to the growth of dogs, which is equivalent to giving dogs a long-term vegetarian diet.

Look at the meat content

The protein content cannot determine the quality of dog food. It can be judged from the actual meat content added to the food. Some dog foods will clearly indicate the meat content. The content of duck meat added to the third grain is as high as 70%. Like this grain, you can be sure that the protein source is pure meat and its nutritional value is very high. However, some low-priced dog food does not indicate the specific amount of meat added. You can think about how much a pound of duck and beef on the market costs, and then think about the price of dog food to guess how much is added to it. The meat is there.

Are there any artificial additives

In addition to nutritional considerations when choosing dog food, another consideration is whether artificial additives are added to the food. In recent years, the concept of natural food has become popular in China. Natural food means that no artificial colors, preservatives, phagostimulants and other substances are added. Just like humans, if dogs eat food with a large amount of artificial additives for a long time, these substances cannot be naturally digested and decomposed by the body, and will accumulate in the body after long-term eating. Some young dogs will not show any physical abnormalities, but when some dogs reach middle-aged and old age, the side effects of long-term consumption of additives will appear, and problems such as kidney failure may occur, which seriously affects the dog's lifespan.Common dog food preservatives include BHA/BHT. Vitamin E, vitamin C, rosemary, etc. are used in natural food for preservation. In order to make the dog food smell good and look shiny, some low-priced food will add flavors, pigments and other substances. Dogs will love to eat it after buying it, but if they eat it for a long time, they will find that the dog's hair is dull, has heavy tear marks, and does not grow long. Meat will greatly shorten the dog’s lifespan.
