1. Why do dogs fight?

1. Confirm status

When two strange dogs meet, they will use various body language to judge each other's strength and weakness, thereby establishing a hierarchical status. What we often see is sniffing each other's butts, or circling each other, raising their tails, etc. In short, they stay alert and nervous. In this kind of first meeting, most dogs fight to confirm their status.

2. Grab resources

Many dogs have a tendency to protect their food. This is because they had to compete for food to survive in the wild. Therefore, some dogs are now very possessive. As long as it is their own, no matter whether it is food, play, or use, other dogs cannot touch it. Once they get close, a fight will immediately occur.

3. Competing for a partner

If there is a person of the opposite sex in estrus at the scene, it will be bad. In order to compete for their partners, many male dogs begin to fight and compete for mating rights. This is also the natural law of nature where the weak and the strong eat each other.

4. Protector

Some dogs do not want other dogs to get close to their owners because they protect their owners. Once another dog approaches its owner, it will rush up and start a fight. Such dogs usually don't want their owners to tease other dogs. When their owners tease other dogs, they will become jealous, which is what we call jealous, and rush to bite them.

2. How to avoid dog fights?

1. When two dogs of the same sex come into contact, please pay more attention to the dog's behavior and approach each other slowly and in circles.

2. If you find that your dog is growling, baring its teeth, or otherwise extremely nervous or warning the other person, please remove the dog immediately to avoid violent incidents.

3. The war is raging, what should we do?

When there is a traction rope:

If the dog harness is on traction, the owner can pull the dog away in time to avoid escalation of the war.

When there is no traction:

1. Make loud noises or splash water, etc.

Tools that can temporarily distract your dog are the best helpers for truce. For example, a sudden loud noise, a sudden splash of water, or a sudden appearance of delicious food in front of each other will temporarily divert the attention of the fighting dogs. Note:

1. Hold the traction rope.

Able to control dogs in time. It is the most direct way to stop dog fights in a timely and effective manner.

2. Do not intervene directly with your own body.

When many owners see that their dogs are already fighting, they become overly nervous and intervene in the fight with their bodies, causing injuries to themselves. When a dog is in an emotional state, it will not be able to tell who is the owner or who is the opponent. In the rush, the dog may accidentally injure the owner. Therefore, owners must not try to rashly intervene in the fight with their own bodies during the fight, but find tools to make the dogs temporarily stop fighting and then separate.

After the dog fight:

1. Check the dog’s body promptly for any wounds.

2. If there is any, remove and clean the hair, dirt, exudate, etc. adhering to the wound.

3. Rinse the wound with normal saline, disinfect the isolation tape around the wound with iodine, and use appropriate drugs to treat the wound to promote wound healing.

4. If it is particularly serious, it is recommended to send it to a pet hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time.
