Siamese Cat

Variety classification

There are four types of coat colors recognized by CFA:

Seal point color: the traditional color of Siamese cats, which first appeared in Europe in the 1880s. The coat is short and smooth, close to the body, and matures early, but it cannot mate and give birth until older.

Blue point color: one of the traditional Siamese cats, one of the most popular breeds since the 1930s. It is said to be the gentlest and most affectionate of the Siamese cats.

Chocolate point color: developed from the seal point color Siamese cat, but was only allowed to participate in exhibitions in 1950. Kittens are almost pure white, and the chocolate spots will not fully develop until they are about one year old. Well-developed kittens often have darker key colors when they reach adulthood.

Lilac accent color: first appeared in an exhibition in England in 1896, when the accent color was eliminated because it was "not blue enough". One of the four typical Siamese cats.

There are as many as 30 other coat colors recognized by GCCF, such as:

Red point color: Originally known as "orange point color cat", it was first exhibited in the UK in 1934. It was controversial because the coat color was different from the traditional Siamese cat. This type of cat is produced by breeding with a red tabby Persian cat.

Creamy yellow key color: Like red key color, they are new varieties with delicate colors. They are also called "cheese key color" abroad.

Seal tortoiseshell: This kind of cat had dark stripes on its body before the 1930s, which have been basically eliminated. It is closely related to the red-pointed Siamese cat. The meow of the seal tortoiseshell Siamese cat is louder than that of the average Siamese cat, and it is a naturally loud voice.

Blue tortoiseshell: The tortoiseshell pattern is obtained by mating with tortoiseshell short-haired cats. After screening, the body shape characteristics of Siamese cats are retained. Like other tortoiseshell cats, there are only female cats.

Chocolate tortoiseshell: In North America, some registration units consider them to be point-color shorthair cats, while in the UK, people include them as Siamese cats. But all have been approved.

Red tabby: When the Siamese cat was introduced to Europe, people knew that this breed had various tabby point colors. In 1902, the first Siamese cat with tabby point color was described.Fame and the world. They were called "shadow point Siamese cats" in the early days, and later "lynx point Siamese cats". The British only officially called them "red tabby point Siamese cats" in 1966.

Rare species

Diamond Eyed Siamese Cat: The Diamond Eyed Siamese Cat is a rare breed among Siamese cats. Its value lies in its two cat eyes of different colors, which look like diamonds against the pure white fur, shining brightly in the dark.

The relationship between the Thai royal family and diamond-eyed Siamese cats has a long history. During the period of King Rama V about 150 years ago, there were dozens of diamond-eyed Siamese cats in the royal palace. Rare and precious, the Thai government stipulates that it can only be raised by the royal family.

There are only about a hundred diamond-eyed Siamese cats left around Bangkok, and some of them are placed in Dusi Zoo for tourists to watch, which shows how precious they are.

(There is no official information confirming the Diamond Eyed Siamese. It is only a legend at present. None of the pictures in the online information are Siamese cats. Cat owners who love Siamese, please do not be misled by unscrupulous traders.)
