West Highland White Terriers should be vaccinated around 45 days old. When a dog is just born, it will acquire maternal antibodies by drinking breast milk. Generally, as long as the mother dog does not get sick, the chance of the puppies contracting infectious diseases is very small. When a dog starts to be weaned in about a month, the weaned dog needs to adapt to eating dog food for a period of time. When the dog has a certain degree of resistance, it can be vaccinated.

Precautions for vaccination of West Highland White Terrier

1. The dog can only be vaccinated when it is completely healthy. Vaccines are composed of attenuated viruses. After the dog is vaccinated, the attenuated virus will stimulate the dog to produce antibodies. If the dog is vaccinated in an unhealthy state, the attenuated virus in the vaccine can easily cause the dog to become sick.

2. Dogs should not be bathed before and after vaccination. When a dog has not been fully vaccinated, its resistance is very low. Bathing will cause the dog to catch a cold, which will delay the vaccination time. Do not take a bath immediately after vaccination. Once the dog becomes sick, the effectiveness of the vaccine will also be affected.

3. Dogs need to be vaccinated every year. Vaccination for dogs does not mean just one shot or all the shots in the first year. The vaccine has a certain time limit and is likely to become ineffective after a certain period of time, so a booster shot is required every year.
