The first step

To reduce the scope of the dog's activities, you can use a sofa to enclose a small area. It would be better if there is a fence. Then divide this area into three areas: the eating area where the water basin and rice bowl are placed, the rest area where the kennel or flight box is placed, and the excretion area where the urinal pad is placed. The three areas should be compact without large open spaces between them.

The second step

Fix the time when the dog eats, and observe it from the side to measure how long it takes to start excreting after eating. For puppies, generally no more than half an hour.

The third step

Generally speaking, dogs will avoid eating and sleeping areas and go to the pee pad to defecate on their own. After it has finished excreting, immediately release it from the range and interact with it for a while.

Step 4

Be careful not to clean up its changing pad while it is still in it, as this may cause it to think you are going to play with it and get excited, and even make a mess inside.

After persisting for a period of time, the dog should only defecate on the pee pad.
