Hazards:

After a dog suffers from cataracts, his vision decreases, and he sees double images or black shadows. In severe cases, it may even lead to blindness.

Symptoms:

1. When I look at you, my eyes are dull, darkened, cloudy, and have obvious white spots;

2. Unable to catch toys or snacks that were often caught before, and the dog will even hit furniture when walking;

3. Appearing hesitant when jumping up and down;

4. When the light outside is dim, you may not even want to go out;

Treatment:

For early stage cataracts, vitamin C, vitamin B2, vitamin E, etc. can be taken orally. You can also use leucine and muscarinic eye drops to delay the development of the disease, but it cannot be eradicated, and surgery is a more effective treatment method.

Prevention:

1. The diet should be rich in protein, calcium, and trace elements, and eat more foods containing vitamins A, B, C, and D. Eating more fish can maintain normal vision and slow down the progression of cataracts.

2. Clean your dog’s eyes regularly to maintain eye hygiene.

3. Try not to let dogs fight with each other to avoid scratching their eyes.

4. Avoid too strong ultraviolet rays. Research shows that if your eyes are exposed to the sun for one more hour a day, the risk of cataracts increases by 10% in a year.
