The Belgian Tervuren is native to Belgium, originated in the 13th century, and has the same ancestors as all Belgian Shepherds. Two Groandas can accidentally create a Tervuren. The only difference from the Groanda is the color of the hair, which is not pure black. This Belgian Tervuren dog breed was developed by Belgian veterinary scientists in 1891. The Belgian Shepherd gave birth to the famous Millsat, who became the first Belgian Tervuren in 1907.

Physical Characteristics - The shoulder height of an adult male Belgian Tervuren is about 24 inches to 26 inches, and the height of an adult female dog is 22 inches to 24 inches at the withers. The overall coordination is very good, the body is square and long. Females are longer than males, have medium bone mass, and are well proportioned to the whole body.

Head characteristics - The Belgian Tervuren's head has a clear outline, a bit like the Chinese Pastoral Dog in my country, but the Belgian Tervuren's nose bridge is longer and smoother. The skin is tight and not too long. The entire facial expression is very witty and curious, with an air of alertness, concern, and readiness. The Belgian Tervuren's eyes are dark brown, medium in size, slightly almond-shaped, and not prominent. Eyes light colored. The ears of the Belgian Tervuren are triangular, cup-shaped, strong and upright, and the height is similar to the width at the base of the ear. The nose is black without spots and the nostrils are clear. The lips are well closed, the teeth are arranged in a scissor shape, and the bite is good.

Trunk characteristics - The neck of the Belgian Tervuren is round, muscular, long and elegant, slightly arched, gradually thickening from the body to the head, the skin is moderately tight, not loose, the shoulders are prominent, and the back is The lines are smooth, straight and look solid. The chest is neither wide nor narrow, moderate and deep, extending all the way to the elbows, forming a smooth and graceful curve with the abdomen. The abdomen is flat, relatively developed, slightly raised but not excessively. The waist, viewed from top to bottom, appears short, wide, strong, and blends smoothly into the back. The tail is set high and has a strong root. In its natural state, it hangs naturally with a certain degree of curvature. The shoulders of the Belgian Tervuren are long and tilted backward at an angle of 45°, flat against the body and supporting the body smoothly. The rear drive is as developed as the front drive and has a good sense of power.

Hair characteristics - The Belgian Tervuren has fine hair all over its body. The silos are brown to reddish brown with black tips on the back, and the tips of each brown hair are black. As age increases, the coat color will gradually deepen, especially on the shoulders, ribs and back. There should be no dark spots. The chest is usually black, sometimes a mixture of black and off-white.
