Symptoms of pyometra in dogs:

1. There will be a large amount of purulent secretions flowing out of the vaginal opening, accompanied by a fishy smell.

2. Depression, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and elevated body temperature.

3. Abdominal enlargement, frequent drinking, and increased urine.

Causes of pyometra in dogs:

1. Endometrial hyperplasia: Female dogs with a normal estrus cycle will have an estrus period of two weeks. The ovaries secrete progestogens, and the endometrium is stimulated by repeated contact with high concentrations of estrogen and progestogens. If there is no movement to become pregnant, the endometrium will proliferate.

2. Bacterial infection: Pyometra is a phenomenon in which the cyst-like structure of the endometrium is infected by bacteria and produces a large amount of secretions. After the sick dog was seriously infected by bacteria, it triggered a series of physiological reactions.
