Not all proteins are called high-quality proteins

Strictly speaking, cats need high-quality animal protein, which must have the following two characteristics:

1) Contains a complete range of amino acids

Amino acids are the basic units of protein and can be divided into essential and non-essential amino acids. Essential amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body and are mainly obtained from meat.

2) Easy to digest and absorb

02

High-quality protein is good,

But it can’t be the only one

Is it enough to just feed pet cats meat?

The eating habits of pet cats are already different from those of wild cats. When the latter eat prey, they eat not only protein, but also rich iron, trace elements, folic acid and undigested grains of prey in the blood. Their nutritional intake is more balanced.

If the pet owner allows the cat to excessively consume protein for a long time, the excess protein may be converted into fat, causing the cat to become obese. At the same time, a large amount of protein will increase the burden on the liver and kidneys during the decomposition process, which will not be harmful to healthy cats. It has an impact, but it is harmful to cats who already suffer from liver and kidney diseases or are elderly.

It is recommended to focus on high-quality animal protein, supplemented by other important nutrients such as water, fatty acids and minerals.

03

Protein intake varies by age

The growth of cats can be divided into three stages, and the required nutrients are also different:

Young age (birth-12 months): In the foundation stage, kittens need to consume a large amount of protein, fat and mineral trace elements to help them grow rapidly.

Kag® canned beef mousse

Beef is a high-quality protein meat, rich in minerals and vitamins; the gel-like texture of mousse is very suitable for kittens who are breastfeeding and transitioning to solid food.

Adult (1-6 years old): Cats’ growth rate slows down and they should pay attention to balanced nutrition. Owners should ensure that the food contains a certain proportion of animal meat, fruits and vegetables, and strictly control calorie intake to reduce the chance of gaining weight.

Kager® canned wolfberry stewed chicken

In addition to the visible bits of chicken, there are also chicken heads that are rich in cartilage and collagen, which help cats keep their joints healthy; wolfberries are rich in vitamins and essential minerals, with a combination of meat and vegetables, and a balanced nutrition.

Elderly (over 7 years old): The digestive function of elderly cats declines, and they need non-energy-rich foods that are easy to digest and contain high protein quality. In addition, they must increase their intake of vitamins C and E. Delay aging and enhance immunity.

Kag® canned chicken and pumpkin

Chicken is a high-protein and low-fat meat. Pumpkin is soft, glutinous and easy to eat. It is rich in dietary fiber and can promote digestion.
