People will think that it is natural for cats to eat fish. Which cat does not eat fishy fish? Does this make sense? In fact, there is some small knowledge about the issue of cats eating fish. If you ignore these issues, it is very likely that your cat will suffer from some diseases that it should not get.

There are many types of fish, here we divide them into two categories: freshwater fish and seawater fish.

Let’s talk about freshwater fish first. Freshwater fish is an ideal food for cats. Although most of them have a lot of spines, they do not pose a great threat to the cat's digestive tract, because most of the fine spines will be sorted out by the barbs on the cat's tongue, and then they are swallowed and stored in the stomach. Medium digestion. The only thing you need to pay attention to when feeding freshwater fish to cats is that the fish must be cooked, and the cat cannot eat raw fish, especially the fish heads, gills and internal organs that are discarded during the cooking process, and do not throw them to you casually. Cat. Because among freshwater fish, especially fish raised in natural waters and old ponds, there may be a terrible parasite - Clonatridium sinensis. If a cat is infected when eating raw freshwater fish, the adult worms will colonize the cat's liver and cause liver tissue lesions. Infected cats will develop anorexia and depression in the early stages of the disease, and then develop symptoms of jaundice: vomiting, weight loss, and sometimes an increase in body temperature. If the owner is careless at this time and fails to detect the condition in time and delays the condition, the cat's life may be endangered.

When giving saltwater fish to cats, you should generally pay attention to three points:

First, seawater fish generally have hard and thick fish bones, especially hairtail and croaker that people often eat. These fish bones are difficult for cats to chew and swallow. If the main spine is swallowed in the mouth in reverse, it will It may be stuck in the throat and difficult to remove. Therefore, when feeding saltwater fish to cats, the fish bones must be removed.

Second, some cats often develop urethral stones due to their own physical factors. The large amounts of magnesium salts contained in saltwater fish can form stones in the cat's urinary tract. Therefore, cats with a history of urethral stones or a hereditary history should try to avoid eating seawater fish.

Third, seawater fish contains a large amount of thiamine enzyme, which can decompose thiamine in food and body. If seawater fish is the main food for a long time, it can cause vitamin B deficiency in cats, causing cervical pain, inability to lift the neck and other symptoms.

Therefore, when feeding cats, whether it is freshwater fish or seawater fish, you should pay attention to its freshness. Because fish meat is rich in protein, once it goes bad, a large amount of histamine will be produced. Even if the owner has cooked the fish as much as possible before feeding, the histamine content will not be destroyed. Cats that eat such fish may cause a series of allergic reactions, such as diarrhea, vomiting, itching of the ears and trunk, and rashes on the ear shells and around the eyes.
