Vaccination is a topic that every cat lover will come into contact with.

Perhaps you have also heard that vaccines are divided into two types: attenuated vaccines and inactivated vaccines.

So what is the difference between attenuated vaccines and inactivated vaccines?

Which of them is better?

How should we choose appropriate vaccine products for our children?

Please understand the following content, all cat lovers!

 ▍Vaccine composition

Vaccines are made up of many different components, but the main component is the antigen. Antigens are the active components of a disease.

These antigens can be disease-killed (inactivated vaccines) or weakened (attenuated vaccines) cells.

When injected into the body, they "challenge" the body's immune system to produce antibodies that fight the disease.

This allows the body to quickly produce antibodies if the cat is exposed to the virus and ensures that the cat does not get sick.

Even if you get sick, the severity will be reduced.

As with any vaccine, the biological properties of the antigen are weakened enough to mimic the full strength of the disease, thereby activating the cat's immune system.

In this case, we will try our best to ensure that the cat does not get sick from the vaccine.

Both types of vaccines, attenuated and inactivated vaccines, can stimulate the body's immune response, but they work in completely different ways.

Let’s take a look at their differences below.

▍Attenuated vaccine

Some features include:

Attenuated vaccines contain attenuated viruses. The attenuated vaccine tricks the body into believing it is the real virus and stimulates the production of antibodies, but does not actually cause disease.

Attenuated vaccines are usually more likely to stimulate the body's immunity than inactivated vaccines.

Some animals may develop mild symptoms or infections after injection, but they are usually not serious.

Some advantages include:

The immune response is strong and rapid.

Maybe one injection is enough.

The immunity produced is of higher quality.

There are fewer allergies.

Some disadvantages include:

Weak or immunodeficient animals are at risk.

When used on pregnant animals, there is a risk of miscarriage and teratogenesis.

Improper storage may lead to failure.

The validity period is short.

 ▍Inactivated vaccine

Some features include:

Inactivated vaccines are made from dead disease cells.

Inactivated vaccines tend to take longer to stimulate the immune system.

It takes at least two injections to be effective.

Contains adjuvants.

Adjuvants may be the culprit in vaccine-associated sarcoma - VAS.

Some advantages include:

Does not cause virus-related diseases.

At the right time, it can be used during pregnancy.

It can be used safely in animals with poor immunity.

It’s easier to store.

Some disadvantages include:

Multiple injections are required to obtain effective immunity.

Occasionally allergic reactions

Risk of vaccine-associated sarcoma (VAS).

 ▍Injection recommendations

For the cattery environment, I personally recommend the inactivated vaccine, which is Miao Sanduo.

For families with pets that have been vaccinated, I suggest just doing an antibody test. If you have antibodies, there is no need to vaccinate.
