Hamsters can usually take a bath once every 2 to 3 days. When the temperature is high in summer, hamsters need to be bathed once a day to prevent the growth of bacteria, and the bath sand needs to be replaced in time after three uses. In winter, the amount can be reduced as appropriate, and the bath sand can be replaced every two weeks.

Most hamsters will bathe themselves, and they have the instinct to dig out sand. If your hamster doesn't know how to bathe with sand, you can sprinkle a little sand on the hamster, and they will shake the sand off. After shaking it a few times, they will know how to take a bath. Generally, 2 to 3cm thick bath sand is enough each time. Because it requires sand grinding, it is recommended to use a smaller bathroom.

How to bathe a hamster correctly

Shake the sand: Lay a layer of bath sand in the bathroom. You can choose the bath sand according to your needs, and then gently wash the hamster. Pick it up and put it in the bathroom. Many hamsters will automatically roll and dig in the sand due to their instinct. Some hamsters don't know how to bathe in sand. You can sprinkle a little sand on the hamster's back, and the hamster will automatically shake off the sand. After repeating this a few times, the hamster will gradually understand.

Rolling: After the hamster learns how to shake the sand, you can guide it to roll in the bath sand. Stretch your hand towards the hamster. Normally, the hamster will come over and hug your hand with its small paws. At this time, you can gently push it down, move it once to the left and right, then release your hand and let the hamster turn over on its own. After a few times, the hamster will feel the joy of rolling and take the initiative to take a bath.
