For some people, it is easy to drool every time they sleep, but did you know? Cats can also drool. Although this phenomenon is rare, you should not be careless, because a cat drooling indicates that there is something wrong with its body.

There are many reasons for cats to drool. Drool is saliva, which is secreted by the salivary glands in the mouth. When it is stimulated, it will drool.

1. Oral problems

If a cat has oral problems such as dental calculus and gingivitis, it will cause an increase in oral secretions. If the drooling is not caused by dental calculus, it is likely to be caused by other oral problems.

After all, nowadays, cats suffer from dental calculus and gingivitis. Therefore, for cats over 4 years old, when salivation occurs, it is necessary to first check whether there is dental calculus.

 2. Kidney disease

If a cat has chronic renal failure, the metabolites produced in the body will accumulate in the cat's body, and the kidneys will be damaged by these toxic metabolites, resulting in electrolyte imbalance and anemia.

Therefore, for the health of cats, pet owners should let their cats drink more water and not pet them all the time, which may lead to serious consequences later.

3. Acute gastritis

If a cat suffers from acute gastritis, the stomach will be irritated, which will cause the cat to drool. Pharyngitis and parotid gland swelling will also cause the cat to drool.

To better solve the problem of cats drooling, pet owners can first take them to a pet hospital for diagnosis and treatment to clarify the specific reasons, then prescribe appropriate medicine and pay attention to their daily diet.
