Before a cat officially becomes a member of your family, the two most important things it needs to do are vaccinations and deworming. Vaccinations are generally carried out at professional pet shops or pet hospitals, while deworming can be carried out by the dog owner himself. So how do you deworm cats? Novice cat lovers, take a look!

How to deworm cats?

1. How cats are infected with parasites

1. Oral infection, the cat swallows infectious eggs or larvae when eating or drinking water, or eats a transmission host with larvae, such as a cockroach.

2. Maternal infection. In pregnant female cats, larvae infect the fetus through the placenta, such as roundworms and hookworms. It is also possible to transmit infections such as Toxoplasma to lactating kittens through milk.

3. Skin infection. Infectious larvae can directly penetrate the cat's skin, burrow into the cat's body, and parasitize the parasitic site, such as hookworm larvae.

4. Mosquito transmission, for example, mosquitoes can transmit heartworm larvae.

5. Contact infection. If a healthy cat comes into direct contact with a sick cat, parasites, such as mites, lice, fleas, etc., will be transmitted from the sick cat to the healthy cat.

6. Indirect contact infection. If the owner touches a sick cat's hands without disinfecting and touches a healthy cat directly, or a healthy cat comes into contact with items used by cats and dogs carrying parasites, parasites may also be transmitted. The ways of indirect contact infection are not limited to the above two.

For cats, the threat of parasites is almost everywhere. No matter how well protected they are, it is difficult to prevent these parasites that cannot be seen with the naked eye from taking the opportunity to enter. So don’t take any chances and be sure to deworm your cat regularly.

2. How often should cats be dewormed

1. The first time for young cats to be dewormed should start when they are about 2 and a half months old, that is, after the cat is successfully weaned, it will begin to receive deworming. Under normal circumstances, cats aged 2-6 months need to be dewormed once a month.

2. Adult cats should undergo internal and external deworming at least once every six months or every year.

3. Free-range cats, or cats living with multiple cats and dogs, are best dewormed every 3 to 6 months.

4. If it is a domesticated single cat, it depends on the feeding situation. For example, if the cat does not usually eat raw meat or raw eggs, but only feeds cat food and canned cats of reliable quality, 6 to 12 cats can be fed. Deworm once a month.

5. Pregnant and lactating female cats should be dewormed 10 days before giving birth and about 2 to 4 weeks after the lactation period ends.

3. Selection of cat anthelmintics

The method of internal deworming is mainly to remove parasites from the cat’s digestive tract by taking deworming drugs. This kind of deworming medicine can be purchased in professional pet stores and pet hospitals.

The method of external deworming is to appropriately drip deworming drugs on the body so that the drugs can penetrate into the cortex to achieve the purpose of deworming. There are two types of deworming: drops and sprays.

Many cat parents believe that the most effective tool for removing fleas is Fulin! Many friends who raise cats and dogs must have heard of its name. The one currently used more often is Fulin.

Fulin is divided into sprays and drops, with different usage and effects. The spray is suitable for kittens under 8 weeks old and over 2 days old. Drops are suitable for cats over 8 weeks old. Everyone must understand the specific usage and dosage before using it on cats, and do not use it blindly.

Usage:

Confirm whether the cat's fur is dry. If the cat has taken a bath, it is best to wait until the cat's fur is completely dry the next day after bathing before using Fulin Spray.

Choose a ventilated place, put on gloves, push the cat's hair in reverse direction, use the Fulian spray nozzle 10~20cm away from the cat, spray the agent all over the cat's skin and hair, and make sure it is completely wet. Do not spray into the cat's eyes, ears, mouth, or nose. You can spray the spray on the gloves, apply it to the parts of the cat's face that are not sprayed, and wait for the cat's hair to dry naturally.

Tip: During the spraying process, fleas should continue to fall out. Don’t panic. The fleas at this time are usually poisoned. Just clean them off.

Recommendation: It is best to remove fleas after the kittens are 45 days old. Because each kitten has a different constitution, if the kitten is too young, medication may be detrimental to the health of the weak kitten.

Remember, do not take a shower within 2 days after using Fulien to prevent the loss of medicinal properties.

Under normal circumstances, fleas will be completely eliminated after one use of Fulin. Since fleas may also be hidden in the environment, it is recommended to use Fulian spray to spray on sofas, corners, carpets and other places where fleas hide. Spray once a week for two weeks.

If you still notice jumps after spraying Fulian for a few days, you can continue to use Fulian spray according to the above method. In order to consolidate the efficacy of the medicine, it can be used on cats once a month or not, depending on the environment the cat is in and the cat's own condition.

Dosage:

per kilogram of body weight3~6ml, it is better to spray all the hair and skin.

Efficacy: The spray takes effect within 5 minutes and can kill adult fleas and ticks within 24 hours. The medicinal properties last for 1 month.

Tips: Fulien spray mainly kills adult insects, while drops kill eggs and larvae. You can use Fulien spray and drops according to the actual situation for better results.
