What should I do if my puppy doesn’t eat but still vomits? As a novice, I can’t determine the cause of the dog’s vomiting. In fact, there are many reasons for dogs to vomit. When vomiting occurs, you can judge from the following aspects.

1. Parasites

Intestinal parasites, especially roundworms, will burrow into the stomach and struggle with gastric acid stimulation in severe cases, leading to vomiting. Therefore, poop scrapers must do regular internal deworming to prevent dogs from suffering.

2. Enteritis

If your dog has diarrhea, is accompanied by poor energy, decreased appetite, and elevated body temperature, it is likely to be infected with enteritis. At this time, the first thing to do is to stop diarrhea and reduce inflammation, because puppies can easily become dehydrated quickly due to diarrhea. If the symptoms are severe, it is recommended to send them to the hospital for treatment immediately.

3. Chronic renal failure

If elderly dogs suffer from chronic renal failure, high blood ammonia, high blood phosphorus, etc. will cause vomiting. There are many causes of kidney failure. Older dogs are prone to this disease due to the aging of their organs and improper diet when they were young.

This is why we call on dog owners not to feed dogs human food. The flavorings and additives in human food will increase the burden on the dog’s kidneys, and regular consumption will cause kidney damage.

IV. Pyometra

After a female dog has pyometra, she will have symptoms of sepsis and may also cause vomiting. At present, the most effective way to avoid pyometra in female dogs is sterilization surgery. It is recommended that owners who raise female dogs go to the hospital to consult a doctor when the dog reaches adulthood and perform sterilization at the appropriate time.

5. Gastrointestinal obstruction/intussusception

If the intestines and stomach are blocked by foreign bodies, the dog will suffer from severe vomiting. If it is confirmed that the foreign body has been swallowed, it should be sent to the doctor immediately. Dogs use their noses and mouths to explore the world, so the pet’s breeding environment should be kept clean and tidy, and objects of a size that can be swallowed by dogs should not be placed where dogs can access them.

Intussusception occurs when a dog is overly hungry and drinks ice water that is too cold. If the dog is found to have severe abdominal pain, rolling on the ground, and being highly restless, the dog owner should consider this disease and send it to the doctor immediately.

6. Infectious diseases

Canine parvovirus, canine distemper, etc. can cause vomiting. In the early stages of a dog infection, mild diarrhea will occur. As the symptoms gradually become more serious, the dog will also refuse to eat, vomit continuously, become mentally ill, have blood in the stool, and have low body temperature. The main symptoms of canine distemper include loss of appetite,Repeated vomiting, listlessness, abnormal body temperature, convulsions all over the body, etc.

The matter of dog vomiting can be big or small. After understanding these tips, you can make your own judgment and choose a better solution.
