Guinea pigs do not hibernate. Artificially raised guinea pigs generally do not hibernate. However, if the temperature of the breeding environment is low, guinea pigs will enter a state of pseudo-hibernation and look as if they are dead. After discovery, it needs to be moved to a warm room for maintenance in time, and fed a small amount of glucose water so that the guinea pig can wake up as soon as possible.

How to avoid pseudo-hibernation in guinea pigs

1. In order to prevent guinea pigs from entering a state of pseudo-hibernation, breeders need to prepare a warm environment for guinea pigs before winter comes. For a small nest, you can place old cotton and straw in the mouse cage to keep warm, and place a heater next to the mouse cage to create a warm growth environment for the guinea pig.

2. After the room temperature drops in winter, it is necessary to supplement nutrition for the guinea pig, and feed it more oily peanuts, melon seeds and other foods. Feeding needs to be increased once a day to allow the guinea pigs to accumulate enough fat and survive the cold winter smoothly.
