Determining the age of a kitten is very important for the subsequent feeding and observation of physiological development indicators. Generally speaking, an artificially fed kitten will be much smaller than a kitten fed by a female cat. A 20-day-old hand-fed kitten may not be as strong as a 10-day-old kitten fed by a female cat, but some major physiological standards can be judged in the following 4 ways.

Kitten’s umbilical cord

If you see a kitten and the umbilical cord has not fallen off, it should be no more than three days old.

Kitten’s eyes

Generally speaking, kittens open their eyes in about 10 days, which is an average number.

Kitten’s ears

When newborns are born, the ear canal is closed. It does not begin to open until the 5th to 8th day, and can stand up around the 15th to 20th day.

Kitten teeth

The order of teeth eruption is generally: incisors (10-15 days), canines (15-25 days), and molars (30-40 days).
