Only one or two have won the title of Working Dog. level; one gets the title of "tracking dog". Chow Chows make great hunting dogs, compete in "beauty pageants" and make wonderful family pets. Can grow up with children, like any other canine, the Chow Chow can be a child's playmate. Years of experience have taught Chow obedience breeders that "socialization" is the only way to train a Chow. "Socialized" Chows are more stable than those that have not been "socialized". A Chow Chow that has not been "socialized" will only care about his owner and will be happier if the owner provides proper "socialization" training.

In terms of daily care, if brushed frequently, the body odor of Chow Chow is very small, and bugs, parasites and viruses are relatively far away from Chow Chow. Chow Chow loves to eat and does not require a lot of training, so there is no problem at all in keeping it in a building.
