Anchovies reproduce very frequently, usually once a month, and are very productive. Under conditions of good water temperature and quality, they can produce 10 to 80 small fish each time. When breeding anchovies, be careful not to have more than three generations of seed fish in the same nest, to avoid continuous inbreeding leading to the degeneration of the anchovy breed.

If the water temperature and water quality do not meet the requirements, the anchovies may not be able to mate and reproduce. When the anchovies reach the breeding conditions, the temperature should be controlled at about 26 degrees during reproduction, and the pH value should be between 6.8 and 7.4.

Anchovy breeding precautions

1. When breeding guppies, attention should be paid to keeping the male and female fish together in isolation during the mating period. Reduce the interference of other fish and increase the tail chasing rate between male and female fish.

2. After the tail chase is successful, the male fish and the female fish should be kept in isolation in time. To prevent the male fish from affecting the pregnant female fish, when the female fish’s belly grows, it is necessary to prepare sufficient food for the female fish to ensure that the female fish has adequate nutrition during pregnancy.

3. After the female fish gives birth, the breeder needs to isolate the female fish from the small fish in time to prevent the female fish from swallowing the small fish.

Anchovies usually mature in 3-4 months. If raised properly, they can mature in 3 months. As long as the living environment around them is comfortable, they can reproduce.
