Causes of abscesses in dogs:

1. Abscesses are mostly caused by pathogenic bacterial infection, improper injection of irritating drugs or certain infectious diseases. The main causes are Bacteria include Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Escherichia coli and putrefactive bacteria. Due to the lack of disinfection when injecting drugs, or due to restlessness, struggling, etc., the injection site deviates from the original disinfection point, causing local inflammation. .

2. Abscesses in wounds after surgery are closely related to incomplete suture disinfection. When strong irritating drugs (such as calcium preparations) are injected intravenously, they leak into the subcutaneous tissue, irritating local tissue and causing inflammation. Nonbacterial inflammation.

3. The original abscess in the body is transferred to the skin and subcutaneous tissue through blood or lymph fluid, and metastatic abscess appears. Infection with actinomycetes and tuberculosis bacteria can cause cold abscess.

Treatment methods for dog abscesses:

1. For initial hard and solid swelling, you can apply compound lead acetate powder, fish stone ointment, etc., or use 0.5% hydrochloric acid Use 20-30 ml of procaine and 400,000-800,000 units of penicillin potassium (sodium) to seal around the lesion to promote the resolution of inflammation.

2. When the abscess fluctuates. Pus should be incised and drained in time, the abscess cavity should be flushed, gauze drainage should be installed or open therapy should be performed, and antibiotics and other systemic therapies should be used if necessary.

Symptoms of abscess in dogs:

It is not difficult to diagnose based on clinical symptoms. If necessary, puncture can be performed. If pus is aspirated, the diagnosis can be confirmed.

1. It can occur in any tissue or organ in various parts of the dog, and its clinical manifestations are basically similar.

2. In the early stage, there is local swelling, increased temperature, pain when touched, slightly hard, and then gradually increases in size and becomes softer, with a fluctuating feeling.

3. When the abscess matures, the skin becomes thinner. The hair fell off locally and there was a small amount of exudate. Soon the abscess burst and yellow-white viscous pus flowed out.

4. When an abscess forms, some may cause systemic symptoms such as increased body temperature; after the abscess ruptures, the body temperature quickly returns to normal.

5. If not treated promptly or appropriately, it can sometimes form a flaccid tube that will not heal for a long time. In some cases, it may even cause sepsis and death.

6. Deep abscesses that occur in deep muscles, intermuscles and internal organs are deep and have no obvious fluctuations. However, there is often edema in the surface tissue, local tenderness, and obvious systemic symptoms accompanied by dysfunction of the corresponding organs.
