It takes about 18 days for pigeons to incubate eggs, and it is normal for pigeons to leave the nest within ten minutes. Generally, female pigeons will take turns incubating eggs with male pigeons. Pigeons may suddenly stand up during incubation to adjust the temperature of the eggs and allow the eggs to hatch better. If the pigeon is away for more than ten minutes while incubating the eggs, it means that the eggs are dead or the embryos are too fragile to hatch.

Things to note when pigeons are incubating eggs:

1. Do not pick up pigeon eggs too frequently. Many owners are curious when they see pigeons laying eggs and like to pick up pigeon eggs frequently. This increases the risk of breaking the eggs. Generally, after laying the eggs, check whether there are any deformities or damage. After three to five days of incubation, check whether there are normal blood streaks. Then, the eggs can be hatched after eighteen days.

2. When handling pigeon eggs, be careful not to break them. The main reason is that when the owner takes it, the hen will often flap the owner's hand with its wings in order to protect the eggs. If the owner does not protect the eggs, it is likely to hit the eggs.

3. When pigeons are incubating eggs, be careful not to have sharp objects in the nest basin, and do not allow pigeons to take a bath during incubation. Avoid some pigeons whose feathers are still wet after taking a bath and go directly to incubate eggs. Dip the feathers on the eggs, and it will be easier to take the pigeon eggs out when they come out.
