First, you must determine what disease the chinchilla is suffering from and the cause of the chinchilla’s illness, so that you can treat it symptomatically. If the breeder uses medicine indiscriminately or ignores it, it will cause the condition to worsen, and in severe cases, it may even cause the death of the chinchilla.

Symptoms and solutions of illness in standard gray chinchillas

1. Heat stroke:

The hair of chinchillas is very thick. In summer, It is very easy to suffer from heatstroke. When the breeder sees the chinchilla listless in the evening, and the temperature of the breeding environment is too high or there is no ventilation, the chinchilla is likely to suffer from heatstroke. The breeder needs to immediately move the chinchilla to a ventilated environment and cool it down. If the chinchilla still does not feel well after a period of time, it can be considered to send it to a pet hospital for treatment.

2. Trauma:

When the breeder finds obvious scars or signs of bleeding on the chinchilla, he should choose to use a medical cotton swab dipped in alcohol to disinfect the affected area, and give it a disinfectant according to the instructions. The chinchilla is coated with the corresponding medicine. If the amount of bleeding is excessive or the chinchilla is not in good condition, the breeder needs to send the chinchilla to the pet hospital immediately.
