Goldfish will freeze to death in winter. Although goldfish are very cold-resistant and adaptable to changes in water temperature, goldfish will freeze to death if the temperature drops below 5°C. When the temperature drops too quickly in winter and the temperature changes exceed 5°C, goldfish will freeze to death. It is recommended that keepers control the water temperature at 20-28°C in winter. At this temperature, goldfish grow most vigorously and eat more.

Precautions for raising goldfish in winter:

1. Feeding can be delayed to around 10 o'clock in the cold winter season, because the water temperature has dropped significantly, and the goldfish's appetite tends to decrease. It is even more unsuitable to feed.

2. Water temperature control. Garden breeding containers should be placed in a south-facing window to get some sunlight, but they should not be exposed to the sun for a long time to avoid excessive temperature differences between day and night

3. Do not change the water too frequently. The water used to raise goldfish will not be as easy to deteriorate in winter as it is in summer. You don’t need to change the water so frequently. The frequency of water changes should be reduced. Generally, the water injection method is more suitable.

4. Disease prevention. In this season, the incidence rate is higher due to the infection of diseased fish and water carrying bacteria, or the stimulation of water with excessive temperature differences. Special attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the water and the water temperature should not change suddenly. Once the disease occurs, medication should be taken as soon as possible.
