Morphological characteristics of the big-headed turtle

1. The carapace is spindle-shaped, with obvious ridges and is brown-black.

2. The width of the head is 1/3~1/2 of the width of the front edge of the nail, and the back of the head is olive color.

3. The tip of the snout and the edge of the jaw are almost in a straight line vertically downward. The jaw is wide and thick, and the eyes are big.

4. There are multiple intermittent light yellow lines with black and gray edges on the head side along the posterior edge of the orbit.

5. The color of the nail bridge and plastron are the same, brown and black, with indistinct radioactive stripes, and some are completely black.

The living habits of the big-headed tortoise

1. The big-headed tortoise is not afraid of the cold. When the water temperature is about 10°C, it enters the hibernation stage. When the water temperature is about 0°C, it can still hibernate normally.

2. The suitable water temperature is about 22°. When the water temperature exceeds 35°, the turtle likes to burrow into the sand or a cool place to rest.

3. The food intake is small and tends to be omnivorous. Food includes insects, snails, small fish, aquatic plants, etc.

4. Big-headed tortoises are more active than tortoises, easy to tame, and bold.
