Zhou's closed-shell turtles hibernate. In early November every year, when the temperature drops to about 15°C, Zhou's box turtles gradually enter hibernation. They like to hide in caves, piles of branches or under a thick layer of withered grass, mostly in sunny and leeward places. In late March of the following year, when the temperature rises to about 18~19℃, Zhou's box turtle ends hibernation and starts eating.

Precautions for hibernating Zhou's closed-shell turtles:

1. In autumn, owners can feed them meat to increase their fat content and supplement some vitamins. And calcium makes it healthy enough.

2. One week before entering hibernation, do not let it eat. It is best to empty its stomach. A tortoise sleeping with a full stomach can easily cause gastrointestinal diseases.

3. Cover the breeding tank with 7-8 cm thick moist sand and place it indoors in a sunny place. When the hibernation time is up, it will dig a hole and bury itself in it.

4. Try not to expose it to the sun. Zhou's closed-shell turtles are likely to be awakened by the sun, which will consume a lot of fat.

5. The first feeding of Zhou's closed-shell turtle after hibernation should be small but precise, and the ambient temperature must not be lower than 15℃, otherwise it will cause indigestion.
