Do radiated tortoises hibernate?
Ratted tortoises basically do not hibernate, so they must be kept warm in winter. It is best to put them in a heated radiated tortoise breeding box for the winter. The most important thing when raising radiated tortoises in winter is to provide them with a suitable living environment. It is best to simulate the wild environment of radiated tortoises, so that the radiated tortoises can enjoy sufficient temperature and sunlight.
How to arrange the radiated tortoise breeding environment:
1. Prepare 2 thermometers and hygrometers, place them in the cold area and hot area respectively, and place them in the middle of the box at the bottom position, so that the temperature and humidity of the cold zone and hot zone can be observed respectively.
2. Place the water basin under UVA spotlights, which is conducive to water evaporation and is in line with the original ecological environment of the radiated tortoise.
3. It is recommended to configure a sun lamp, but if there is sufficient light and you can often bask in the sun, you may not need to configure it. Since the sun lamp is a free-range lamp, it cannot be installed in the box. It is recommended that the sun lamp be placed outside the box using a bracket.
4. You can choose a special mat material, or you can get some ceramic tiles, turn them over and put them in the radiated tortoise box.
5. A shadow area must also be created in a corner of the breeding box to create a temperature difference in the breeding box and provide a place where the radiated tortoise can enjoy the cool air.
