How to teach a Border Collie to lie down? First prepare dog food or snacks that the Border Collie likes. Indoors or in a secluded place, take the dog food to the Border Collie with your right hand, but do not let it eat it. Lower your right hand to induce the Border Collie to lower his head and bend over. At the same time, gently stroke the dog's back with your left hand and press down slightly. Then give the "lying" command. When the border collie assumes a lying position, give the "ok" command and let it eat dog food. After training multiple times, gradually reduce the number of dog food rewards until the dog food is no longer rewarded.

Prepare about 0.2 kilograms of dog food or snacks that Border Collie likes, preferably dog food with larger particles (the reason will be explained in the following link)

Choose an indoor or secluded place of about 10 square meters so that the process of training the Border Shepherd can be uninterrupted. If you are indoors, try to wear a leash to prevent the border sheep from running away.

Take the dog food in your right hand (can be held by hand or in a basin) and feed it to the Border Collie. At this time, try not to give the Border Collie any dog food.

When the Border Collie wants to eat dog food and sniffs his right hand, lower his right hand to induce the Border Collie to lower his head and bend over.

At the same time, gently stroke the dog's back with your left hand and press it down slightly. At this time, the border collie will take a lying position in order to eat the dog food better.

As soon as the Border Collie adopts a lying position, give the Border Collie enough reward so that it can eat dog food.

After repeating the above steps several times, you are confident that you can make the Border Collie take a lying position. Give the "Lie" or "Lie down" command before the Border Collie makes the correct movement. , give the "ok" command, and then let the border collie eat the dog food.

After training for about thirty times, about two to three days later, you can gradually reduce the number of dog food rewards until no dog food is rewarded.

Wrong actions must be corrected promptly. There are two main problems with the lying position of the Border Collie: First, it does not lie down quickly. The two front legs do not lie down at the same time, but one leg lies down and then the other leg lies down. The second is that the buttocks are tilted to one side after lying down. After the above two problems occur, they must be corrected in time to avoid forming habits.
