Purebred Border Collie Characteristics
Morphological characteristics
The Border Collie has a broad head, and the length of the head is almost equal to the length of the front face. The ears are of medium size, set widely apart, sensitive and flexible, and kept erect or semi-erect.
The eyes are relatively open, medium in size, oval, and mostly brown in color. The muzzle has a thin tip until the tip of the nose, the nostrils are well developed, and the nose is generally black. Chest deep and of moderate width. The forelimb bones are well developed and parallel to each other.
The ankle is slightly tilted. The dewclaws can be removed, the feet are compact and oval, the pads are deep and strong, the toes are moderately arched and compact, and the toenails are short and strong. The rear drive is wide and slopes towards the tail. The thighs are wide, long and deep, and the knee joint angle is appropriate. The hindquarters are well stocked, parallel to each other and slightly calves.
Characteristics
It has a tenacious and docile personality, with a sharp, alert, sensitive temperament that is neither vicious nor shy. It is also smart, easy to train, gentle, loyal, and obedient. They are intelligent by nature, able to observe words and colors, and can accurately understand their master's instructions.
Coat color characteristics
The Border Collie can withstand harsh weather. There are two types of coats: coarse hair and short hair, both of which have soft, dense double-layered hair. There is rich coarse hair on both sides of the neck, buttocks, hind legs and tail. The hair on the face, ears, forelimbs and hind limbs is soft short hair.
Common coat colors include black and white, blue and white, and brown and white. In addition, there are three-color coats with black, blue, and brown as the main colors, as well as blue merle and red merle. Most people think that Border Collies only come in black and white, simply because this color is the most common.
