Dogs (Latin Canis lupus familiaris) belong to the phylum Chordata, the subphylum Vertebrates, the class Mammalia, the subclass Eutheria, the order Carnivora, the suborder Schizopoda, and the family Canidae.

Also known as "dog" in Chinese, dogs are distributed all over the world. The history of human dog-raising can be traced back to about 10,000 BC. Domestic dogs in Northeast China have appeared in the late Paleolithic Age.

1. Ultra-small dogs: (4 types in total, standard height 25cm, weight less than 4kg)

2. Small dogs: (50 species in total, standard height 25-40cm, weight 4-10kg)

3. Medium-sized dogs: (54 species in total, standard height 41-60cm, weight 11-30kg)

4. Large dogs: (50 species in total, standard height 61-70cm, weight 31-40kg)

5. Extra large: (20 types in total, standard height is above 70cm, weight is above 40kg)

According to the American AKC standards, this list only includes purebred dogs recognized by them.
