Don’t rush to stop the bleeding

Regardless of whether the cat or dog is infected with the virus or not, any bite or scratch must be dealt with strictly. As long as there is not too much bleeding, do not rush to stop the bleeding, because the blood flowing out can wash away the residual mad dog saliva from the wound, which will naturally have a certain disinfection effect.

Clean as soon as possible

For wounds that don’t bleed much, you can squeeze the bleeding from the wound to help detoxify. The wound must be cleaned thoroughly as soon as possible within two hours after the injury to reduce the chance of rabies.

Continuously wash the wound

It is best to wash the wound thoroughly with 20% soapy water and wipe it continuously for at least 30 minutes.

Do not bandage the wound

After rinsing the wound, apply 70% alcohol or 50-70% white wine on the wound. There is no need to bandage the wound after wiping. Old and new wounds on other parts that are scratched, licked, or contaminated by saliva from dogs should be treated in the same way as bites.
