The first step in treating dog wounds: Check the wound

Dogs sometimes fight with other dogs or are cut by sharp objects, resulting in bleeding wounds. When the owner finds that his dog is bleeding, he should first check where the dog's wound is, carefully open the dog's hair and search to determine the condition of the wound. It is best for the owner to trim the hair around the dog's wound to facilitate subsequent application of medicine.

The second step in treating dog wounds: clean and bandage the wound

If the dog's wound is not serious, the owner can use hydrogen peroxide or iodine to scrub and disinfect the wound. Dogs may become aggressive due to the sting, which requires extra attention from the owner. After cleaning and disinfecting the dog's wound, you can sprinkle some pet silica on it, then cover the wound with a piece of sterilized gauze and wrap it with a bandage.

How to deal with a dog’s wound that doesn’t stop bleeding

1. If the dog’s limbs are bleeding, we can apply pressure on the inside of the limb above the wound.
2. If the dog’s tail bleeds, we can press the ventral surface of the tail.
3. If the dog is bleeding from the head and neck, we can hold the carotid artery in the groove of the neck and shoulder.
After the bleeding stops, re-bandage the wound with new gauze and seek medical help if necessary.
