How to treat seborrheic dermatitis in dogs

Use anti-seborrheic bath solution (Vic Medicated Bath) and skin soothing agent, and reduce the frequency of bathing to once every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on treatment needs.
For dogs with severe oily, itchy, malodorous seborrhea, systemic corticosteroids can be useful. Prednisone 1 to 2 mg/kg PO every 24 hours until symptoms are under control (about 2 weeks). If continued treatment is required, the dose should be reduced to the lowest dose for alternate-day use.
