Methods for pregnancy diagnosis:

1. External observation method.

Generally, the nipples and base skin of the pregnant bitch will become slightly red about 15 days after breeding. After 20 days, vomiting, loss of appetite, and lack of energy often occur. After about 1 week, the appetite increases greatly, but sometimes After a partial eclipse, the movements become steady; around the 30th day, the breasts gradually sag, the nipples become elastic, and the patient walks cautiously; between the 35th and 50th days, the front abdomen gradually swells, and it is easy to pant when walking. In the later stages of pregnancy, the food intake decreases but the frequency of food intake increases. When the number of fetuses in the pregnancy is small, the above symptoms appear later or are even less obvious.

2. Abdominal wall palpation method.

Before feeding in the morning 25-30 days after breeding, put your fingers together, place your palm on the abdominal wall outside the uterus, gently press and slide along the uterine horns, you can feel the presence of eggs in the uterus of the pregnant dog. Large, round, elastic blastocysts exist. When there are many embryos, they are arranged in segmented rows in the uterine horns on both sides. Continuous inspection shows that their size changes progressively, and they are easier to touch after 7 weeks of pregnancy. When palpating, pay attention to distinguish the hard feces in the rectum from embryos. The feces are long and single-row, and will deform and become inelastic when pressed. Continuous examination will show that there is no change in volume or there is no change in volume. Early-maturing varieties have young mothers, moderate nutritional levels, and large litters of offspring, one of which can be born early.

24 to 36 hours before delivery, the female dog's appetite will be greatly reduced, and she may even stop eating. The female dog will act impatiently and often scratch the ground with her claws. This is especially true for first-time female dogs. 3 to 10 hours before delivery, the female dog will begin to have labor pains, restless, often yawn, moan or scream, scratch the bedding and have shortness of breath, the frequency of urination will begin to increase, and the ischial tuberosity of the buttocks will appear. Obvious collapse and swelling of the vulva, such as mucus leakage, indicate that the female dog will give birth within a few hours. Usually, births occur in the early morning or evening. At this time, the owner needs to be by his side to help with the delivery. If the owner cannot do it, he can send him to the hospital and let doctors and nurses help with the delivery.
