How to treat canine distemper

The principles of canine distemper treatment are antiviral, prevention of secondary infection and symptomatic treatment.

Canine distemper antiviral treatment

1. Canine distemper virus monoclonal antibody, 0.5-1ml/kg, subcutaneous injection or intramuscular injection, once/day, for 3 days.
2. Ribavirin, 5-7ml/kg, subcutaneous injection or intramuscular injection, once a day.
3. Shuanghuanglian, 60ml/kg, subcutaneous injection or intramuscular injection, once a day.
4. Interferon, 10w-20w unit/time, injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly, once every two days.

Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory

1. Ampicillin, 10-20ml/kg body weight by intramuscular injection, subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion, 2-3 times a day.
2. Cefazolin sodium, intramuscular injection at 15-30ml/kg, 3-4 times a day.
3. Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium suspension, 0.1ml/kg, subcutaneous injection or intramuscular injection, once a day.
4. Enrofloxacin, 2.5-5ml.kg, taken orally, subcutaneously or intravenously, twice a day.

Clear heat and detoxify

1. Bupleurum injection, 2ml/time intramuscular injection, 2 times a day.
2. Qingkailing oral liquid, take 0.2-0.4ml/time, orally, twice a day.

Antiemetic and sedative

1. Metoclopramide, 0.2-0.5ml/kg, orally or subcutaneously. 3-4 times a day.
2. Ogilvy does it, take it orally or subcutaneously at 0.5-1.5/ml.

Relieve breathing

1. Aminophylline, 10-15ml/kg, taken orally 2-3 times a day, or 50-100ml/time, intramuscular injection or intravenous infusion.
2. Pentovirine, 25ml/kg, orally, 2-3 times a day.

Fluid rehydration

Ringer’s solution, glucose saline, physiological saline, etc. can be used.
