Dehydrated dogs will behave abnormally

Dogs will often lick their lips and rest their noses on empty water basins, showing anxiety.

Dehydrated dogs will have saggy skin

Pinch the skin on the back of the dog’s neck, pull it up 3-5 cm, and then release it. The normal skin will rebound quickly. A rebound time of more than 2 seconds proves water shortage.

Dehydrated dogs will have sticky gums

The moistness of the gums is a good indicator of early dehydration. Normal gums are moist and shiny. If you are dehydrated, your gums may become dry or sticky because less saliva is produced. Dogs may also have dry gums when they are anxious and fearful. During the examination, the dog must be relaxed.

Dehydrated dog urine will become darker in color

If the dog is dehydrated, the dog's body will take measures to preserve body fluids, and the urine will be concentrated, resulting in darker color and less urine volume.

Dehydrated dog eye sockets will become sunken

If the eye sockets of healthy dogs are slightly sunken and dry, it is a sign of mild dehydration. In severe cases, the third eyelid can be seen protruding. Touch your dog's paw pads. If they are cold, seek medical attention immediately! It means that you are moderately or even severely dehydrated at this time!
