Can adult cats drink milk?
Adult cats cannot drink milk. The body structures of cats and humans are different. People can absorb the protein, fat, lactose and other nutrients contained in pure milk, but cats are not suitable for drinking it. Although some nutrients contained in pure milk are important for the growth of cats, the lactose contained in it cannot be broken down by cats' bodies, and may even cause physical problems to cats.
If you want to supplement your cat’s nutrition, it is recommended to give your cat goat’s milk. Goat’s milk has higher nutritional content and does not contain lactose, which cats are intolerant of, so it is better to choose goat’s milk.
Dangers of cats and milk:
1. Cats may have diarrhea after drinking milk, and in severe cases, it may even lead to dehydration.
2. Cats that drink milk for a long time may gradually reduce their activity, become listless, and lose their appetite. So try not to feed milk to cats.
3. Most cats are lactose intolerant, and milk contains lactose. Cats cannot digest and absorb milk after drinking it.
