What causes dogs to snore?
1. Innate breed issues
Some dogs snore and breed, and many dogs have short snoring. Head breeds, such as Bullies, Chow Chows, Shar-Peis, and French Bulldogs, because these dogs have very short muzzles. In order to meet their breathing needs and get enough air, they need to work harder to breathe, and their nasal cavities are constricted. At the same time, the airway will become narrowed, and snoring will occur. This situation usually occurs when the dog is asleep.
2. Dogs suffer from heart disease
Some dogs also suffer from certain heart diseases. These heart diseases can also cause dogs to snore like humans. Commonly seen as an early symptom of heart disease in dogs.
3. Dogs have a cold
If a dog has a cold, or if a foreign object enters the nasal cavity, they will sneeze, snore, feel uncomfortable, have a runny nose, and runny nose. In case of nosebleeds, etc., at this time, you need to take your dog to the pet hospital for examination.
4. Dog genetic problems
Many dogs with flat and short muzzles will have the problem of snoring, because the muzzle is shorter and can get more air than other parts of the muzzle. It's more difficult for older dogs. When sleeping at night, the nasal cavity contracts and the airway narrows, so they snore.
5. The dog is excessively obese
If the dog snores, it is most likely caused by the dog being obese. You can check to see if your dog is a bit fat. If it is too fat, you should usually focus on losing weight for the dog and take the dog out to exercise more. If the dog is unwilling to move, you can use some small snacks to induce movement.
6. Caused by upper respiratory tract stenosis
This cause is more common in brachycephalic dogs, such as bulldogs, Chihuahuas, pugs, etc. Those with mild symptoms may not be treated for the time being, otherwise the symptoms will be seriously affected. Breathers can go to a professional hospital for nasal stenosis reconstruction surgery, but this surgery is expensive and requires high technical skills.
