Cats breathing heavily and making noise may be due to the following three reasons: 1. The cat is too obese. Cats that are too obese will cause the throat organs to be squeezed, thus affecting breathing; 2. Respiratory tract infection, the cat is suffering from a cold or illness. Cardiopulmonary disease and other conditions can lead to respiratory tract infection and this phenomenon occurs; 3. It is normal. Some short-nosed cats such as Garfield cats are prone to this kind of breathing problem.

Tip:

The owner should control the cat’s food intake when feeding the cat to prevent the cat from becoming too obese. If the cat is caused by respiratory infection phenomenon, then it is best to take the cat to the pet hospital for examination and treatment.
