How cats dissipate heat

Cats have four heat dissipation methods: radiation heat dissipation, conductive heat dissipation, evaporative heat dissipation and convection heat dissipation. Evaporative heat dissipation is the main way of cat heat dissipation, which is generally divided into sweat gland evaporation, saliva evaporation and respiratory evaporation. Cats have sweat glands located around their mouths and on their paw pads, which help cats dissipate heat. When a cat licks its fur, the saliva evaporates and dissipates heat. If the weather is particularly hot, cats will also open their mouths to dissipate heat.
