Vitamins are trace elements needed by all living things. What are the symptoms of vitamin deficiency? Below, Pet Cat Network will introduce to you the symptoms and treatment methods of vitamin deficiency:

 1. Vitamin A deficiency

Typical symptoms: Sick cats show dry eyes and dry skin. Kittens show symptoms such as growth stagnation, lack of energy, anorexia, digestive disorders, and diarrhea.

Treatment measures: Cod liver oil or vitamin A can be taken orally, 1000-2000 international units (300-600 micrograms) daily, which has good preventive and therapeutic effects.

 2. Vitamin B deficiency

Typical symptoms: Sick cats have reduced appetite or do not eat, are weak, lose weight, have an unsteady gait, stagger when walking, and quickly develop convulsions and spasms. When there is a severe lack of vitamin Bl, the coat will be rough, the back will be arched, and muscle spasms will often occur. When other B vitamins are deficient, ulcerative stomatitis, conjunctivitis and "pellagra" may occur.

Treatment measures: Detect sick cats as early as possible and give them vitamin B complex preparations, vitamin Bl tablets three times a day, 10 mg each time. When ulcerative stomatitis occurs, vitamin B2 (riboflavin) should be taken orally, three times a day, 2.5 mg each time.

Typical symptoms: Sick cats show heterophilia and like to eat sweets on walls, floors, soil, masonry or their own feces, and subsequently develop skeletal deformities. When walking, the limbs are stiff, unable to bend or extend, or cannot move or lie down.

Treatment measures: Vitamin D should be supplemented, 300-500 international units per day, and the dosage can be increased appropriately during the progression of the disease. Vitamin Island 100,000 to 300,000 international units can also be injected intramuscularly. While supplementing vitamin D, attention should be paid to reasonable feeding and management, appropriate exercise and sunlight exposure.
