First aid method for pet cats that are choked

Step 1: Approach the cat carefully and control it if necessary if it is nervous or agitated.

Step 2: Clean the cat’s respiratory tract. ​​​​​​

a: Grasp the cat's head with one hand, place your thumb and index finger behind the cat's long fangs, and use the palm of your hand to hold the rest of the cat's head. If the cat struggles too hard, please see e;

b: Gently tilt the cat back, face upward, and use your thumbs to grasp the cat's mouth to open its mouth;

c: Gently pull out the cat’s tongue. If you can see the foreign object, try to remove it with your fingers or needle-nose pliers (if the foreign object is a needle, please see d);

d: If the foreign object is a needle and has been deeply embedded in the root of the mouth, please stop rescue and send it to the veterinarian immediately. If the cat is in pain, gently keep its tongue hanging out;

e: If you still can't remove the foreign object (except if the foreign object is a needle), grab the cat's hind legs, turn it upside down, and shake it vigorously. Patting the patient's back gently while shaking can help dislodge foreign objects;

f: If the foreign body has not been removed, let the cat lie on its side, hold the last rib on both sides of the abdomen with your hands, and quickly squeeze the abdomen 3 to 4 times. If the foreign body is still stuck, repeat the process process;

Step 3: If you cannot remove the foreign object, please send the cat to the veterinarian immediately for treatment.

Step 4: If you have removed the foreign object and the cat is still not breathing, place your finger one inch behind the cat's elbow and in the center of the chest to feel for its heartbeat.

When feeding medicine to a cat, the cat will not cooperate, and it is likely to be scratched by the cat. Therefore, the owner must first ensure that the cat is immobilized, otherwise he is likely to be injured.
