Acupuncture, as an ancient medical method, continues to this day and has a history of thousands of years. It is said that when our ancestors hunted for food, because they did not have as many high-end tools as we do now, and they had to fight with wild beasts, falls and bruises were common. At that time, our ancestors lived in caves, and if they were injured, they would I struggled to roll into the cave and lay down in the cave. Looking at my body covered with bruises, I couldn't help but sigh, thinking that I still had to take care of a family. What should I do if something unexpected happened? I sighed so deeply that I burst into tears. I felt sleepy after thinking about it, so I turned over and got ready to sleep. Unfortunately, there was a big sharp stone next to me. My ancestor immediately lay down on it. When it touched the wound, my ancestor almost jumped up in pain. He struggled. I sat up, touched the wound and screamed in pain. As a result, I screamed and found that the wound was not that painful anymore. It felt quite good. My ancestor thought that my injury might have damaged my brain, so he used a stone again. I pricked my own wound, and it felt really good, so I thought that this method was good and could heal the wound, so it slowly became our current acupuncture technique.

In the final analysis, acupuncture is a method of treating diseases, but now it has gradually become a method of massage. Many people also like to give themselves a few needles for no reason, talking about health care, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It does have this effect. A few years ago, there was a Siamese cat in South Africa. Its name was "Kiki". Siamese cat is a famous short-haired cat. It is said that it was once an aristocrat among cats, but this Siamese cat is very unusual. Xin, it does not have any aristocratic qualities. Instead, it contracted asthma. In the past three years, it has been suffering from asthma and cough. Its owner loves this cat very much. He went to many hospitals and ate a lot of food for the cat. He was getting worried even though he was not getting any better after taking medicine. When he was worried, a veterinarian recommended to his owner that there is a mysterious technique called acupuncture in the far East. He might as well give it a try. Its owner thought that since he had tried so many, this one was not bad, so he would give it a try. So I traveled thousands of miles to China to give the cat acupuncture treatment. Unexpectedly, after this acupuncture, the cat's asthma, which had been suffering for three years, was cured.

So cats, like people, can also use acupuncture to treat diseases. If you are in trouble, a prick may have miraculous effects. So when it comes to cat acupuncture, we must first understand some basic knowledge about acupuncture.

1. Acupuncture equipment

When giving acupuncture to cats, we generally choose filiform needles in terms of needle selection. The diameter of the filiform needles is 0.16~1.25mm, and the length of the needle body is 1.3cm, 2.5cm, 3cm, 4.5cm, etc. The aqueous tube is a small copper tube, about 5.5cm long, with a small hole on it. It is used to drain ascites and treat the umbilical cord. Needle hammers and needle sticks are needle holders made from hardwood lathes. Moxa velvet, moxa rolls and moxa sticks are the tools used in moxibustion. Secondly, there are soldering irons and cupping pots. Now that our technology has advanced, we can also use electric acupuncture.Treatment equipment, laser treatment equipment, microwave acupuncture treatment equipment and other equipment are used to perform acupuncture on cats.

2. Preparation before acupuncture

Before acupuncture, we must first select appropriate needles and check whether the needles are in good condition, such as rust, hooks, and bends. Before moxibustion, we must also check whether the moxa velvet or moxa rolls are damp. Then, the cat will not obediently give us the acupuncture, so we need to keep the cat safe, and then disinfect the acupoints where the acupuncture will be done.

3. Commonly used acupuncture points for cats

If a cat suffers from heatstroke, shock, cold, fever, or stroke in summer, we can tap the Shangen point, which is located at the junction of hairy and hairless in the middle of the back of the nose. If the cat has constipation or abdominal pain, we can prick the Sanjiang point, which is located at the canthus vein under the inner corner of the eye, with 1 point on the left and right. If the cat is coughing and wheezing, we can prick the Feishu point, which is located in the 3rd intercostal space, in the groove between the longissimus dorsi muscle and the iliocostalis muscle, with 1 point on the left and right sides. If the cat has loss of appetite, indigestion, diarrhea, and vomiting, we can prick the Sanjiaoshu point, which is located in the iliocostalis muscle opposite the end of the transverse process of the first lumbar vertebra, with 1 point on the left and right sides.

Now that we know the basic knowledge of acupuncture for cats, we still need to practice slowly and master the appropriate treatment methods before giving acupuncture to cats, so that we can give cats good treatment and ensure their health.
