In daily life, cats are inevitably injured because of their curiosity and naughtiness. In severe cases, they may need stitches. However, most cats do not like to go out or are afraid of unfamiliar environments. When the wounds are removed, the owner can take care of the cat at home. For suture removal, Pet Cat Network will introduce the suture removal process in detail, which requires parents to be very careful.

Cat wound suture removal process

1. Preparation of equipment

Alcohol lamp, tweezers, cotton wool, pointed scissors (small), 70% concentration medical alcohol

2. Main steps

1. Wash your hands with ordinary soap and running water 3 times. Soak in 20% Dettol solution for 10 minutes (air dry naturally, do not wipe with towel).

2. Sterilize the tweezers and scissors at high temperature with an alcohol lamp.

3. Remove the cat bandage. Carefully remove the gauze covering the wound. The incision edges and coils (3-5) should be visible, and there should be no redness, swelling or oozing.

4. The coils are knotted independently. Use pointed scissors as close to the cat's skin as possible (away from the knotted area) to slightly lift and cut the coil.

5. Use tweezers to pick up cotton wool, soak it in alcohol, and gently rub the embedded thread area to promote the separation of the thread from the skin tissue.

6. Use tweezers to grasp the knotted end of the thread and gently pull it out.

7. Wipe the wound and thread hole with alcohol cotton again, 3 times. The action must be gentle, focusing on the thread hole area.

8. Within the next two days, gently wipe the wound with alcohol once or twice a day to disinfect it. Do not use it too frequently, which is not conducive to the growth of surface cells. Monitor your cat closely to prevent wounds from opening.

3. Attention

1. You must wait 7 days after the operation before the sutures can be removed.

2. Make preparations for dressing changes beforehand. Once the wound is red, swollen and exuding, change the dressing immediately. Consider removing the sutures again after three or four days.

3. Make sure the cat has smooth defecation.
