Severe symptoms include: listlessness, imbalance of hands and feet, difficulty breathing, convulsions, heart failure and other internal diseases; cats lacking vitamin B1 will first show reluctance to eat, retching and vomiting, dehydration and weight loss. Although lack of vitamin B1 is not a serious disease, long-term deficiency can cause damage to internal organs and brain, and even death of cats in severe cases.
