Never cook meat for cats

Cats can eat raw meat. Compared with raw meat and cooked meat, each has its own advantages. For example, for British shorthair, raw meat has a better gill effect, because the protein of raw meat is higher than that of cooked meat, and the original nutrition of the meat is maintained.

Pay attention to the following points when feeding raw meat:

1. Raw meat must be fully frozen

Generally speaking, raw meat must be frozen for more than 3 days. In this way, most parasites and bacteria can be killed. Note that most of them are. This is the risk of feeding raw meat, because freezing does not kill it as completely as cooking it at high temperatures.

2. It must be fully defrosted when feeding

Cats’ gastrointestinal organs are relatively weak, and food that is too cold may cause gastrointestinal discomfort in cats. Very prone to diarrhea and gastrointestinal allergies. Therefore, it is recommended to fully defrost to room temperature when feeding.

3. Regular deworming

I think most cat owners know this. There are still parasites in raw meat, and even if they are fully frozen, there is no guarantee that they will be completely eliminated. Therefore, it is recommended to deworm more frequently than usual. Generally, cats that do not eat raw meat should be dewormed every three months. Cats that eat raw meat should be dewormed once a month.

4. Food should not be left for too long

Compared with cooked meat, raw meat is more likely to spoil. Personally, I suggest that raw meat should be eaten within 2 hours in winter. Summer will be eaten within half an hour. Spring and Autumn are eaten within 1 hour. Otherwise, the food will spoil and affect the cat’s health.
